RESUMO

Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries, operated through the interconversion between sulfur and solid-state lithium sulfide, have been regarded as next-generation energy storage systems. However, the sluggish kinetics of lithium sulfide deposition/dissolution, caused by its insoluble and insulated nature, hampers the practical use of Li-S batteries. Herein, leaf-like carbon scaffold (LCS) with the modification of Mo2C clusters (Mo2C@LCS) is reported as host material of sulfur powder. During cycles, the dissociative Mo ions at the Mo2C@LCS/electrolyte interface are detected to exhibit competitive binding energy with Li ions for lithium sulfide anions, which disrupts the deposition behavior of crystalline lithium sulfide and trends a shift in the configuration of lithium sulfide towards an amorphous structure. Combining the related electrochemical study and first-principle calculation, it is revealed that the formation of anorphous lithium sulfides shows significantly improved kinetics for lithim sulfides deposition and decomposition. As a result, the obtained Mo2C@LCS/S cathode shows an ultralow capacity decay rate of 0.015% per cycle at a high mass loading of 9.5 mg cm-2 after 700 cycles. More strikingly, an ultrahigh sulfur loading of 61.2 mg cm-2 can also be achieved. Our work defines an efficacious strategy to advance the commercialization of Mo2C@LCS host for Li-S batteries. RESUMO

The sodium (Na) metal anode encounters issues such as volume expansion and dendrite growth during cycling. Herein, a novel three-dimensional flexible composite Na metal anode was constructed through the conversion-alloying reaction between Na and ultrafine Sb2S3 nanoparticles encapsulated within the electrospun carbon nanofibers (Sb2S3@CNFs). The formed sodiophilic Na3Sb sites and the high Na+-conducting Na2S matrix, coupled with CNFs, establish a spatially confined "sodiophilic-conductive" network, which effectively reduces the Na nucleation barrier, improves the Na+ diffusion kinetics, and suppresses the volume expansion, thereby inhibiting the Na dendrite growth. Consequently, the Na/Sb2S3@CNFs electrode exhibits a high Coulombic efficiency (99.94%), exceptional lifespan (up to 2800 h) at high current densities (up to 5 mA cm-2), and high areal capacities (up to 5 mAh cm-2) in symmetric cells. The coin-type full cells assembled with a Na3V2(PO4)3/C cathode demonstrate significant enhancement in electrochemical performance. The flexible pouch cell achieves an excellent energy density of 301 Wh kg-1.

RESUMO

Metallic Zn is considered as a promising anode material because of its abundance, eco-friendliness, and high theoretical capacity. However, the uncontrolled dendrite growth and side reactions restrict its further practical application. Herein, we proposed a ß-cyclodextrin-modified multiwalled carbon nanotube (CD-MWCNT) layer for Zn metal anodes. The obtained CD-MWCNT layer with high affinity to Zn can significantly reduce the transfer barrier of Zn2+ at the electrode/electrolyte interface, facilitating the uniform deposition of Zn2+ and suppressing water-caused side reactions. Consequently, the Zn||Zn symmetric cell assembled with CD-MWCNT shows a significantly enhanced cycling durability, maintaining a cycling life exceeding 1000 h even under a high current density of 5 mA cm-2. Furthermore, the full battery equipped with a V2O5 cathode displays an unparalleled long life. This work unveils a promising avenue toward the achievement of high-performance Zn metal anodes.

RESUMO

The aberrant expression of the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) Small Nucleolar RNA Host Gene 29 (SNHG29) has been associated with various human cancers. However, the role of SNHG29 in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) remains elusive. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the function of SNHG29 in CML and unveil its potential underlying mechanisms. Herein, peripheral blood samples from 44 CML patients and 17 healthy subjects were collected. The expressions of SNHG29, microRNA-483-3p (miR-483-3p), and Casitas B-lineage Lymphoma (CBL) were measured using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) or Western Blot. Cell viability, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression were evaluated using the Cell Counting Kit-8 assay, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine incorporation, and flow cytometry, respectively. Western Blot analysis was employed to assess protein expressions related to cellular proliferation, apoptosis, and oncogenesis. RNA immunoprecipitation and dual-luciferase reporter assays were utilized to verify the interactions among SNHG29, miR-483-3p, and CBL. SNHG29 was significantly overexpressed in both blood samples of CML patients and CML cell lines. In CML, increased expression of SNHG29 was positively correlated with clinical staging, and patients with high SNHG29 expression had poorer survival outcomes. Functionally, knocking down SNHG29 effectively inhibited CML cell proliferation and promoted apoptosis. Mechanistically, SNHG29 acted as a competing endogenous RNA for miR-483-3p to modulate CBL expression, thereby activating the Phosphoinositide 3-Kinase/Akt signaling pathway and mediating CML progression. In summary, these findings reveal that SNHG29 promotes tumorigenesis in CML, offering a potential therapeutic strategy for CML treatment.

RESUMO

Anode-free sodium metal battery (AFSMB) promises high energy density but suffers from the difficulty of maintaining high cycling stability. Nonuniform sodium (Na) deposition on the current collector is largely responsible for capacity decay in the cycling process of AFSMB. Here, a unique copper phosphide (Cu3P) nanowire is constructed on copper (Cu3P@Cu) as a sodium deposition substrate by an in situ growth method. Superior electrochemical performance of Cu3P@Cu anode is delivered in asymmetric cells with an average Coulombic efficiency of 99.8% for over 800 cycles at 1 mA cm-2 with 1 mA h cm-2. The symmetric cell of Cu3P@Cu displayed a cycling lifespan of over 2000 h at 2 mA cm-2 with 1 mA h cm-2. Cryo-transmission electron microscope characterization and first principles calculation revealed that the low Na+ absorption energy and low Na+ diffusion energy barrier on Na3P promoted uniform Na nucleation and deposition, thus enhancing the Na surface stability. Moreover, anode-free Na3V2(PO4)3//Cu3P@Cu full pouch cell delivered a considerable cycling capacity of ≈15 mA h in 170 cycles, demonstrating its practical feasibility.

RESUMO

B-lymphocytic leukaemia is one of the most commonly diagnosed blood malignancies, and our knowledge of B-prolymphocytic leukaemia remained barely comprehensive. CircRNAs and miRNAs were identified of important regulatory roles in tumours. This study focused on the possibly existing interaction of circBCAR3 and miR-27a-3p, and downstream molecules thereafter in B-prolymphocytic leukaemia cells. CircBCAR3 and miR-27a-3p expression was evaluated in JVM-2 cell line and normal lymphocytes. Dual-luciferase luminescence assay was conducted for validation of circBCAR3 and miR-27a-3p interaction, as well as western blot and flow cytometry for evaluation and validation of their association with SLC7A11, reactive-oxygen species and Fe2+ regarding ferroptosis. CircBCAR3 were upregulated in JVM-2 cells and were reversely correlated with the expression of miR-27a-3p. CircBCAR3 targeted at miR-27a-3p and was consequently associated with SLC7A11 expression positively, inhibiting ferroptosis and peroxidative damage in JVM-2 cells. This study identified a circBCAR3-miR-27a-3p-SLC7A11 axis regulating ferroptosis and peroxidation of B-prolymphocytic leukaemia cells which might be a key mechanism facilitating the survival of tumour cells. However, further validation based on more diverse cell lines and animal models might be required.

RESUMO

Separator engineering is a promising route to designing advanced lithium (Li) metal anodes for high-performance Li metal batteries (LMBs). Conventional separators are incapable of regulating the Li+ diffusion across the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), leading to severe dendritic deposition. To address this issue, a polypropylene (PP) separator modified by spray coating the Cl-terminated titanium carbonitride MXene ink is designed (PP@Ti3CNCl2). The lithiophilic MXene provides excellent electrolyte wettability and low Li+ diffusion barriers, finally enhancing the Li+ diffusion kinetics of excessively stable SEI. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy depth profiling as well as cryo-transmission electron microscopy reveals that a gradient SEI hierarchy with evenly distributed LiF and LiCl is spontaneously formed during the electrochemical process. As a consequence, PP@Ti3CNCl2 delivers a high Coulombic efficiency (99.15%) coupled with a prolonged lifespan of over 5500 h in half cells and 3100 cycles at 2 C in full cells. This work offers an effective strategy for constructing dendrite-free and Li+ permeable interfaces toward high-energy-density LMBs.

RESUMO

Background: Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disorder with decreased platelet counts and increased bleeding risk. Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of avatrombopag, a second-generation oral thrombopoietin receptor agonist, for the treatment of Chinese patients with chronic primary ITP. Methods: This multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 study (CTR20210431) consisted of a 6-week double-blind core treatment phase followed by a 20-week, open-label extension phase. Chinese adults with chronic primary ITP for at least 12 months and a platelet count <30 × 109/L were randomized (2:1) to receive avatrombopag (initial dose of 20 mg/day) or matched placebo. The primary endpoint was the proportion of subjects with a platelet count ≥50 × 109/L at week 6 of the core treatment phase in absence of rescue therapy. Results: In total, 74 patients were randomized (avatrombopag: N = 48; placebo: N = 26) between March 5, 2021, and August 6, 2021; all of whom entered the extension phase (72 received avatrombopag up to 26 weeks). At week 6 of the core study, the platelet response (≥50 x 109/L) rate was significantly higher in the avatrombopag group (77.1%; 95% CI, 62.7, 88.0) vs placebo (7.7%; 95% CI, 1.0, 25.1); the treatment difference was 69.4% (95% CI, 56.2, 86.3; P < .0001). During the 6-week core study, treatment-emergent adverse events were reported in 41 (85.4%) and 20 (76.9%) patients in the avatrombopag and placebo groups, respectively. The most common avatrombopag-related treatment-emergent adverse events were upper respiratory tract infection (14/48 [29.2%]), increased platelet count (13/48 [27.1%]) and headache (7/48 [14.6%]). Conclusion: Avatrombopag was efficacious and generally well tolerated in Chinese patients with chronic primary ITP, with comparable efficacy and safety to previous reports in Western patients.

RESUMO

Beyond lithium-ion technologies, lithium-sulfur batteries stand out because of their multielectron redox reactions and high theoretical specific energy (2500 Wh kg-1). However, the intrinsic irreversible transformation of soluble lithium polysulfides to solid short-chain sulfur species (Li2S2 and Li2S) and the associated large volume change of electrode materials significantly impair the long-term stability of the battery. Here we present a liquid sulfur electrode consisting of lithium thiophosphate complexes dissolved in organic solvents that enable the bonding and storage of discharge reaction products without precipitation. Insights garnered from coupled spectroscopic and density functional theory studies guide the complex molecular design, complexation mechanism, and associated electrochemical reaction mechanism. With the novel complexes as cathode materials, high specific capacity (1425 mAh g-1 at 0.2 C) and excellent cycling stability (80% retention after 400 cycles at 0.5 C) are achieved at room temperature. Moreover, the highly reversible all-liquid electrochemical conversion enables excellent low-temperature battery operability (>400 mAh g-1 at -40 °C and >200 mAh g-1 at -60 °C). This work opens new avenues to design and tailor the sulfur electrode for enhanced electrochemical performance across a wide operating temperature range.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To establish HL-60 cells and adriamycin resistant HL-60 cells (H-60/ADR) in which the expression of homologous box gene 1 (SIX1) was inhibited, and investigate the effect of inhibiting the expression of SIX1 on the drug resistance. METHODS: Lentivirus was used to transfect HL-60 and HL-60/ADR cells, and the cell lines stably inhibiting the expression of SIX1 were screened by puromycin. CCK-8 assay was used to detect the proliferation ability of cells in each group, apoptosis kit was used to detect the cell apoptosis, and real-time quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression level of drug-resistant related genes. RESULTS: HL-60 and HL-60/ADR stably transfected cell lines with down-regulation of SIX1 expression were successfully constructed. Compared with control group, the inhibition of SIX1 expression significantly inhibited the proliferation of HL-60 and HL-60/ADR cells (P <0.05), increased the apoptosis rate (P <0.05), and the sensitivity of cells to adriamycin increased after inhibition of SIX1 expression. CONCLUSION: Inhibition of SIX1 expression can improve cell sensitivity to adriamycin, and its role in reversing drug resistance may be related to the promotion of apoptosis gene expression.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of resveratrol (RSV) on the proliferation of multiple myeloma (MM) cells and its molecular mechanism. METHODS: MM cells (MM1.S, RPMI-8226 and U266) were treated with different concentrations of RSV for 24-72 h. The effect of RSV on the proliferation of MM cells was detected by CCK-8 (cell counting kit-8) assay. RPMI-8226 cells were divided into RSV, miR-21 mimic, RSV+miR-21 mimic, miR-21 inhibitor and RSV+miR-21 inhibitor groups, and transfected with corresponding plasmids. The cell cycle distribution of each group was detected by flow cytometry with propidium iodide (PI) single staining. The cell apoptosis of each group was detected by AnnexinV-FITC/PE-PI double staining. The expression of miR-21 in MM cells treated with RSV and the expression of KLF5 mRNA in each group were detected by qRT-PCR. The expression of KLF5 protein in each group was detected by Western blot. RESULTS: RSV inhibited the proliferation and induced apoptosis of MM cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner. After the MM cells were treated with RSV, the number of cells in sub-G1 phase was increased, and that in G2/M phase was decreased. Moreover, RSV significantly downregulated the expression of miR-21 in MM cells, and the inhibitory effect of miR-21 mimic on KLF5 expression in MM cells was counteracted by RSV. CONCLUSION: RSV may inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis of MM cells by inhibiting miR-21 and up-regulating KLF5 expression.

RESUMO

Aqueous rechargeable zinc-based batteries (ZBBs) are emerging as desirable energy storage systems because of their high capacity, low cost, and inherent safety. However, the further application of ZBBs still faces many challenges, such as the issues of uncontrolled dendrite growth and severe parasitic reactions occurring at the Zn anode. Herein, an amino-grafted bacterial cellulose (NBC) film is prepared as artificial solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) for the Zn metal anodes, which can significantly reduce zinc nucleation overpotential and lead to the dendrite-free deposition of Zn metal along the (002) crystal plane more easily without any external stimulus. More importantly, the chelation between the modified amino groups and zinc ions can promote the formation of an ultra-even amorphous SEI upon cycling, reducing the activity of hydrate ions, and inhibiting the water-induced side reactions. As a result, the Zn||Zn symmetric cell with NBC film exhibits lower overpotential and higher cyclic stability. When coupled with the V2 O5 cathode, the practical pouch cell achieves superior electrochemical performance over 1000 cycles.

RESUMO

Building 3D electron-conducting scaffolds has been proven to be an effective way to alleviate severe dendritic growth and infinite volume change of sodium (Na) metal anodes. However, the electroplated Na metal cannot completely fill these scaffolds, especially at high current densities. Herein, we revealed that the uniform Na plating on 3D scaffolds is strongly related with the surface Na+ conductivity. As a proof of concept, we synthesized NiF2 hollow nanobowls grown on nickel foam (NiF2@NF) to realize homogeneous Na plating on the 3D scaffold. The NiF2 can be electrochemically converted to a NaF-enriched SEI layer, which significantly reduces the diffusion barrier for Na+ ions. The NaF-enriched SEI layer generated along the Ni backbones creates 3D interconnected ion-conducting pathways and allows for the rapid Na+ transfer throughout the entire 3D scaffold to enable densely filled and dendrite-free Na metal anodes. As a result, symmetric cells composed of identical Na/NiF2@NF electrodes show durable cycle life with an exceedingly stable voltage profile and small hysteresis, particularly at a high current density of 10 mA cm-2 or a large areal capacity of 10 mAh cm-2. Moreover, the full cell assembled with a Na3V2(PO4)3 cathode exhibits a superior capacity retention of 97.8% at a high current of 5C after 300 cycles.

RESUMO

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous hematological malignancy, which is the most common and severe acute leukemia in adults. Its occurrence, development and prognosis are affected by many factors, and more research is still needed to further guide its treatment. Here, we found that roundabout3 (ROBO3) was associated with poor prognosis in AML through bioinformatics analysis. We then found that overexpression of ROBO3 promoted AML cell proliferation, adhesion and migration while knockdown of ROBO3 had opposite effects. We subsequently found that ROBO3 regulated CD34 expression in AML cells, and this regulatory effect may be achieved through the Hippo-YAP pathway. The inhibitors of this pathway, K-975 and verteporfin, showed an inhibitory effect on AML cells with high ROBO3 expression. ROBO3 was also found to be significantly increased in bone marrow samples from AML patients. Our research indicates that ROBO3 plays an important role in the development of AML, which suggests that ROBO3 can be a prognostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target for AML.

RESUMO

A sub-bituminous natural coal sample (R.C) was treated with sulfuric acid (S.C) and nitric acid (N.C) as modified products and enhanced adsorbents for obtaining ciprofloxacin (CFX) antibiotic residuals from water. The characterization studied demonstrates enhancement in the surface area and the incorporation of new active oxygenated, sulfur-bearing, and nitrogen-bearing chemical groups into the structure of coal samples. This was reflected in the adsorption capacities that were enhanced from 164.08 mg/g (R.C) to 489.2 mg/g and 518.5 mg/g for N.C and S.C, respectively. The impact of the acid modification processes was evaluated based on the energetic and steric properties of their adsorption systems considering the parameters of the advanced monolayer equilibrium model with one energy site. The determined occupied active sites' density of R.C (46.32-61.44 mg/g), N.C (168.7-364.9 mg/g), and S.C (159.2-249.9 mg/g) reflects an increase in the quantities of active centers after the acid treatment processes, especially with HNO3. The higher efficiencies of the active sites of S.C to adsorb more CFX molecules (n = 2.08-2.31) than N.C (n = 1.41-2.16) illustrate its higher adsorption capacity. The energetic investigation [adsorption (˂40 kJ/mol) and Gaussian (˂8 kJ/mol) energies] suggested adsorption of CFX by N.C and S.C mainly by physical processes such as van der Waals forces, hydrogen bonding, dipole bonding, and π-π interactions. Moreover, the determined thermodynamic functions including entropy, internal energy, and free enthalpy reflect the spontaneous and endothermic uptake of CFX on the surfaces of N.C and S.C.

RESUMO

Despite the various strategies for achieving metal-nitrogen-carbon (M-N-C) single-atom catalysts (SACs) with different microenvironments for electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR), the synthesis-structure-performance correlation remains elusive due to the lack of well-controlled synthetic approaches. Here, we employed Ni nanoparticles as starting materials for the direct synthesis of nickel (Ni) SACs in one spot through harvesting the interaction between metallic Ni and N atoms in the precursor during the chemical vapor deposition growth of hierarchical N-doped graphene fibers. By combining with first-principle calculations, we found that the Ni-N configuration is closely correlated to the N contents in the precursor, in which the acetonitrile with a high N/C ratio favors the formation of Ni-N3, while the pyridine with a low N/C ratio is more likely to promote the evolution of Ni-N2. Moreover, we revealed that the presence of N favors the formation of H-terminated edge of sp2 carbon and consequently leads to the formation of graphene fibers consisting of vertically stacked graphene flakes, instead of the traditional growth of carbon nanotubes on Ni nanoparticles. With a high capability in balancing the *COOH formation and *CO desorption, the as-prepared hierarchical N-doped graphene nanofibers with Ni-N3 sites exhibit a superior CO2RR performance compared to that with Ni-N2 and Ni-N4 ones.

RESUMO

Capturing CO2 has become increasingly important. However, wide industrial applications of conventional CO2 capture technologies are limited by their slow CO2 sorption and desorption kinetics. Accordingly, this research is designed to overcome the challenge by synthesizing mesoporous MgO nanoparticles (MgO-NPs) with a new method that uses PEG 1500 as a soft template. MgO surface structure is nonstoichiometric due to its distinctive shape; the abundant Lewis base sites provided by oxygen vacancies promote CO2 capture. Adding 2 wt % MgO-NPs to 20 wt % monoethanolamine (MEA) can increase the breakthrough time (the time with 90% CO2 capturing efficiency) by ∼3000% and can increase the CO2 absorption capacity within the breakthrough time by ∼3660%. The data suggest that MgO-NPs can accelerate the rate and increase CO2 desorption capacity by up to ∼8740% and ∼2290% at 90 °C, respectively. Also, the excellent stability of the system within 50 cycles is verified. These findings demonstrate a new strategy to innovate MEA absorbents currently widely used in commercial post-combustion CO2 capture plants.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the expression and correlation of microRNA-195 (miR-195), miR-125 and calreticulin in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). METHODS: From April 2020 to April 2021, 80 DLBCL patients with complete data archived by the Pathology Department of Handan First Hospital and The Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University were selected as the study group, and 70 patients with reactive lymph node hyperplasia were selected as the control group. The expressions of miR-195 and miR-125 were detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR, and the expression of calreticulin was detected by Western blot. Pearson correlation was used to analyze the correlation between miR-195, miR-125, calreticulin and DLBCL, and ROC curve was used to analyze the predictive value of miR-195, miR-125 and calreticulin for DLBCL. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the expression of miR-195 decreased but miR-125 and calreticulin increased in the study group (P<0.001). The expression levels of miR-195, miR-125 and calreticulin were not related to sex, age, primary site and B symptoms of patients with DLBCL, but related to immunophenotype, Ann Arbor stage, lactate dehydrogenase, IPI score, nodule involvement and Ki-67 index. The expression of miR-195 decreased and the expression of miR-125 and calreticulin increased in DLBCL paitents with non-germinal center source, Ann Arbor stage III-IV, lactate dehydrogenase > 245 U/L, IPI score 3-5, nodule involvement≥2 and Ki-67 index≥75% (P<0.05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that miR-195 and miR-125 were negatively correlated (r=-0.536, P=0.001), miR-195 and calreticulin were negatively correlated (r=-0.545, P=0.001), while miR-125 and calreticulin were positively correlated (r=0.523, P=0.001). ROC curve showed that compared with the single diagnosis of miR-195, miR-125 and calreticulin, the combination of the three items had higher predictive value for DLBCL (P<0.001). CONCLUSION: The expression of miR-195 decreases and the expression of miR-125 and calreticulin increase in patients with DLBCL. Along with the increase of disease stage and IPI score, the decrease of miR-195 and the increase of miR-125 and calreticulin aggravate gradually. The three items may participate in the occurrence and progress of DLBCL.
